Most people recognize Ice Cream Tee from her collaboration with DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince on "Guys Ain’t Nothing But Trouble." But let’s be clear—she’s far more than just a feature artist, and Can’t Hold Back proves it. With sharp storytelling, a commanding mic presence, and the raw energy of ’80s hip-hop pulsing through every track, this album is a reminder that Tee had both the skills and the attitude to stand on her own.

The best moments come when she leans all the way into her storytelling and precise delivery. Tracks like “College Blues,” “All Wrong,” and “I Am Empodess” hit hard, but “To Be Continued” steals the show. Channeling the spirit of Microphone Fiend, Tee delivers a Fiercely intoxicating flow that solidifies her skills.

Unfortunately, like many other first albums from the '80s it lacks a clear sonic direction. The production, while solid, doesn’t always tie together seamlessly, leaving the project feeling more like a collection of tracks than a fully realized body of work.
